It all started with my grandfather in 1945, a civilian living in Washington DC. The Navy reached out to him about a communication problem between submarines and he then spent 24 hours with his colleagues, building a radio that worked perfectly underwater. After the war, my father and grandfather started an electronics distribution company together in Syracuse called Gordon Electronics.

It was when I was 11 years old, sweeping the warehouse floors at Gordon Electronics that I began my work in the consumer electronics business. My brother and I would receive and unload tractor-trailers of receivers, cassette decks, TVs, VCR, speaker wire. Sometimes, the trucks were so full that the truck driver would disconnect from the 40- or sometimes 50-foot trailers and leave them there and we would spend the entire day unloading Sony, Pioneer, and Yamaha products.

From the warehouse, I moved to the car stereo garage and installed cassette decks, CD players, speakers, amplifiers, subwoofers into every type of vehicle imaginable: cars, motorcycles, boats, recreation vehicles, tractor-trailers. Over years, that tinkering moved on to homes and the lifelong love of custom electronics evolved into my role at the head of SoundWorks—where I get to still tinker with electronics but now in order to deliver a technology-forward lifestyle to homeowners.

Corey grew up in the home improvement business. First cutting his teeth learning customer service, he worked with clients to make sure every detail was perfect. Corey moved over to the AV Integration field 14 years ago and has helped facilitate our work from large scale multi-million dollar projects to small media rooms. He understands that across the board attention to detail is paramount and delivers the same stellar experience no matter the client’s budget. Corey has the patience of a saint with the ability to converse with everyone from the most novice clients to the technical AV enthusiasts.
