Relax in a More Beautiful Home With Lighting Control

Use smart technology to enjoy a more comfortable lifestyle and enhance your interior design

If you have any familiarity with smart home automation, you’ve likely heard about lighting control and all the benefits it has to offer. You’ve probably also heard of Lutron, one of our favorite brands, and their expertly crafted lighting control systems.

But how do you choose from Lutron’s multiple smart lighting options? Today we’ll be looking at the benefits that lighting control from Lutron can bring to residents on the Bronxville region of New York, as well as what these different systems are capable of.

One of the foremost benefits of all lighting control systems is the power to manage all your home’s light fixtures from a single device. Centralized control makes it much easier to set the ideal lighting conditions throughout your home. A streamlined interface also lets you automate your system for even more convenience.

Here’s one example of how this works: You can set your lights to turn off when you leave for work, then turn on again after sunset or when proximity sensors detect that you’re home. Automation also lets you program lighting schedules to simplify your daily routine. Your lights can gradually increase in the morning when it’s time to wake, then gradually dim as you prepare for bed to help you get a better night’s sleep.

With lighting control from Lutron, these benefits are easy to enjoy. Their starter Caseta system supports up to 50 devices, though the remotes don’t include scene control. Depending on the size of your home, 50 devices also may not be enough to cover every fixture. A more practical beginner option is the RA2 Select. The RA2 Select can support up to 100 devices, and the remotes include scene control.

For larger homes, there’s the RadioRA 2 system. A RadioRA 2 installation can support up to 200 fixtures, easily enough to get your system set up before deciding if you want to expand. At the upper end, the HomeWorks QS system supports up to 10,000 devices, and you get integrated control with Lutron smart thermostats.

How your home is lit plays a vital role in your interior aesthetic. This includes both the mood in a space and how people perceive elements within that space. With conventional fixtures, your only choices are having your lights on or off, but a lighting control system with dimmers gives you greater flexibility.

Lutron pioneered the idea of “human-centric lighting” with tunable lighting from Ketra. Older dimmer switches only gave you control over the brightness of a fixture. By contrast, Ketra’s tunable lighting technology uses warm-dimming bulbs that allow for separate control over color temperature and brightness. You have a much broader range of lighting options with warm-dimming fixtures.

Lastly, finding fixtures and control panels that match your existing décor is easy with Lutron. All Lutron lighting systems include several distinct styles of keypads and dimmers. For an additional design flourish, you can add custom engravings to your control panels, and they’re available in a wide range of finishes to suit any style.
